FOUNDATIONAL BELIEFS

We are a Christian Free Church that bases our faith on the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are convinced that the grace of God in Jesus Christ is our only hope for eternal salvation.

Based on the truths rediscovered by the Reformers—grace alone, faith alone, the Bible alone, Christ alone, and to God’s glory alone—we unite to build God’s church and share the gospel message.

God

We believe that there is only one God – He exists in three equally divine Persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Triune God).

He is the only true, living and eternal God, perfect in his love and holiness.

He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things and He alone deserves honor and worship.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate and a person with two natures: fully God and fully human.

Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

He lived a sinless life, was crucified, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to heaven.

He sits at the right hand of God the Father and represents us as our High Priest and Advocate.

The power of the Holy Spirit

Those who are forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live lives that are ever more honoring and glorifying to God, and ever more in accordance with His will.

He equips us to serve in God’s mission for this world and to make known his greatness, love, and uniqueness in word and deed.

The victory of Jesus on the cross

Jesus took upon himself the wrath of God for believers on the cross, paid for the guilt with his blood, bore the full penalty of sin and reconciled believers to God.

The Church of Jesus

All who believe in Jesus Christ and profess it publicly belong to the worldwide church of Jesus. This becomes tangible through membership in a local Christian church that proclaims the biblical gospel message. Jesus Christ is the head of the church and for her Jesus gave himself forever.

The Bible

We believe that everything in the Bible is inspired by God’s Spirit, and is accordingly immeasurably beneficial in our lives: It teaches the truth, exposes guilt, guides along the right path and teaches life according to God’s will.

The sinfulness of man

We believe that God created Adam and Eve in his image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan.

The Kingdom of God

Recognizing that this world is God’s creation and as citizens of God’s kingdom, believers are to love their neighbors as themselves and do good to all, especially those of God’s family.

The kingdom of God began with the first coming of Jesus Christ and will be completed when Jesus Christ comes into this world the second time.

The judgment of God and the renewal of creation

We believe in a bodily resurrection of all human beings for judgment. Eternal separation from God awaits those who decide against God’s claim on their life and against God’s forgiveness.

But those who confess their guilt before God and accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord with all their hearts are acquitted by God granted forgiveness.

They will live forever with Him on the restored Earth, fully reflecting the beauty and uniqueness of their Creator.

Prayer

Jesus asks us to pray continually and to trust that nothing is impossible with God. Prayer and the preaching of the gospel play a central role in building the kingdom of God in this world

Baptism

We are convinced that baptism is a topic that has unnecessarily divided Christians. The Bible is clear that baptism itself does not save anyone.

The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper reminds us that Jesus died in our place, strengthens our faith and is an expression of the community of all who belong to him.

Bread and wine do not change their substance but symbolically refer to the body and blood of Jesus. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper in the joyful expectation that one day Jesus will return.
